Successfully concluded in Zhuhai, Guangdong, participating in the signing of the third batch of cooperative joint construction units are 15 units including universities, business departments, research institutions, Huawei, Ziyan UAS and other high-tech enterprises.

At the event site, Academician Chen Dake, director of the Southern Ocean Laboratory, introduced the latest construction of the laboratory and the three themes of the seminar "Marine Disaster Prevention and Mitigatio," "Coastal Zone and Offshore Environment," and "Marine Strategy and Ocean Governance."
Southern Ocean Laboratory
Established by the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government, Sun Yat-sen University takes the lead in construction and management. Academician Chen Dake serves as the laboratory director, and Academician Su Jilan serves as the director of the academic committee. The goal is to cultivate and build a national laboratory and build a national laboratory "reserve team." The Hong Kong-Macao, Greater Bay Area, is deeply cultivating the South China Sea, looking at the world, planning the North and South poles, and focusing on creating innovative, leading, and breakthrough large-scale comprehensive marine research and application bases, aiming to build an internationally influential marine national laboratory. In the past two years since its establishment, the Southern Ocean Laboratory has established 18 innovative teams focusing on the three major research fields of marine environment and resources, marine engineering and technology, and marine humanities and archaeology, with the standard of "advocating innovation and striving for the best." Through mechanism and system innovation, the laboratory innovation team forms close, stable, and long-term substantive cooperation, implements major multi-disciplinary cross-integration projects, strives to achieve innovative results in scientific frontiers, core key technologies, and practical applications of significant projects serve the national ocean And regional socio-economic development.

Make a progress report on the joint construction of the Southern Ocean Laboratory
Academician Chen Dake pointed out that Southern Ocean Laboratory will continue to adhere to the principle of "co-construction, sharing and win-win," vigorously advocate "happy scientific research," build core strength, innovate mechanisms and systems, create a win-win atmosphere, and continue to do an excellent job of "1+N" co-construction model. The laboratory is guided by significant issues, emphasizing the high starting point, internationalization, and multi-disciplinary integration, and other characteristics to formulate medium and long-term development plans and strive to achieve new and more significant breakthroughs.
It is a great honor for Ziyan to establish a cooperative relationship with Southern Ocean Laboratory. I believe that under the leadership of the Southern Ocean Laboratory, Ziyan will uphold the laboratory's to be first or best spirit, based on the existing UAV technology advantages and technology accumulation, and in-depth, innovative cooperation mode in marine scientific research, marine remote sensing Information, marine data, marine environment and resources, marine disaster prevention and mitigation, etc., compose new chapters with Southern Ocean Laboratory.

Finally, Academician Chen Dake, director of the Southern Ocean Laboratory, made a concluding speech on the seminar. He cut into the risk assessment of typhoons, storm surges, tsunamis, climate change disasters, extreme events, and other aspects, expressing my country's maritime strategy. Regarding marine governance, it is necessary to "enhance strengths, strengths, and weaknesses, and make up for shortcomings," and focus on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to gather talents to help the country's "blue economy" develop better and faster.
